It was vinyl wrap but not sure what brand it was. Had a shop do it, honestly I would stay away from wrapping.

I'd look into a wrap honestly. You could even get a cool little subtle pattern up there for bonus coolness.

No muss, no fuss. The biggest PITA is removing the shark fin antenna, which means removing the headliner. I had a shop do mine and they did it w/o removing that and it turned out fine.

You still have to clean the rust and do the prep including sanding and some sort of base coat to get it smooth so why not go ahead and paint it so that it lasts more than a couple of years (depending on vinyl manufacturer, surface prep, type, weather, etc).

Mine's in worse shape than the OP's but I've been putting it off waiting for it to cool off a bit (should have done it last year but didn't get to it); I'm probably going to work on it this weekend though. The hood isn't all rusty, it just has the ubiquitous black sand pearl chipping/flaking issue; I'll probably have it painted though since it's visible whereas the roof you can't really see.

Yes, the paint I bought (aerosol spray can) is rustoleum rust inhibitor, it basically neutralizes the rust and prevents it from spreading/turns it into a paintable surface. I sanded the rusted areas to bare metal the best I could before using it. It can be found at Walmart, Home Depot, etc. about the cost of any other regular spray paint.

the roof has held up 100% over the last year since I did the job.

Pulled the roof rack off today to address this situation. I think I'll probably get it painted professionally. But for the roof, hood and grill I'd be looking at 1,700 as per first quote I got.
Don't mind the accumulation of dirt on here....

I had my roof and hood done about 2 weeks ago. they also blended the fenders. There were no dents or rust. was $1600. it was expensive, but they did a great job for the most part. I had to clean up some over spray. Hopefully itll last another 10 years. I did have some buyers remorse, but all in all I didnt have to deal with it and sweat in the hot texas sun. So worth it.

That’s good to know that your price was in line with my quote.
I was debating the cost/benefit here too. But ultimately I know that either i or another owner down the road will appreciate it being done right.
