I saw an update that the Alpine Tunnel Palisades are finally being repaired. Will be nice to drive that again, and finally hit Williams.

Williams Pass is overrated, but worth running. Just a trail of of bowling ball size boulders through the bushes. Best part is the entry off Alpine Tunnel for the few shelf rocks it has. The view from the top is pretty nice. I think it's only open for two months of the season?

I think the intrigue is that it was closed for decades, then reopened for only a month a year, and shortly thereafter, the Alpine Tunnel road was closed.

Oh it totally is. Me and a buddy made a special trip there 20 years ago just to run that trail and camp one night.

Isn't there like a Museum or Display by the alpine tunnel?

There's a restored building with info about the train, tunnel, and mining town if I recall.

I believe there's also a historical society type of group that had someone up there on busy weekends.
