hey guys, I noticed a few threads on here about the IG#1 fuse blowing only when the truck is shifted into reverse, and I’m having the same issue. I do have all LED lights in my truck and I’ve checked every single one of them making sure that wasn’t the issue. I’ve also rewired all my sound system wires to make sure that wasn’t grounding out. But I’ve narrowed it down to the fuse blowing only when I shift to reverse. My trucks automatic, so I replaced the neutral safety switch thinking that’s the issue, and it wasn’t. There goes $200. I’ve been bypassing the issue for about a month now, I shift to neutral, then plug the fuse in and I can drive normally like nothings wrong just can’t go in reverse if not it will blow again. I also notice my fuel sensor won’t show my gas level, I’m not sure if that’s the same issue lined with the fuse, but that issue started the same time as this. If anyone can think of what or where the short to ground might be for the reverse, I’d appreciate it.

EDIT: hey guys I found my issue, luckily it was something simple and not something major, I did check my sound system wiring in the back of the deck thinking something back there was shorting out, but then I checked under my drivers seat, and one of my grounds for my amp got too hot and too close to a main harness loom that runs to my center console, burning an orange wire, and a red wire, the red wire was my reverse circuit wire, and the orange was my gas gauge, put new connectors and crimped the wires together/taped them up and now back to normal no more blowing fuses. Hope whoever else has this issue isn’t as stupid as me. Check everything simple first before jumping to headache troubleshooting.

You have a short somewhere on the reverse circuit, have you unplugged the reverse lights to verify those aren't causing it?

It also goes to the radio for backup camera operation so if you have something wired incorrectly there that could do it.
