Or eaten by..…..I won’t go there. Might be time to find a different hunting local. I haven’t hunted deer for a couple years but use to hunt every year for 30+ years. What I use to do is every year 2 weeks before season I’d spend 2 days scouting sign. And I wasn’t hesitant to walk for miles looking. It paid off in my success rate. Now a days my back doesn’t allow me to do that so I live vicariously reading and hearing other people’s stories. Just now dreaming of some grilled backstrap. You bring the venison I’ll bring the wine.

, ah ha, I knew it, could only be that or a big foot moved in and is eating them, maybe both!
Only getting worse and worse where we have hunted all our lives, when you keep killing all the doe off this is what you end up with.
Years back, seven of us hunted one area, in two days we all shot buck plus other hunters got buck, and every year, for years, plenty of buck were taken out of there, NO MORE, we would be lucky if we got one, maybe two if we were really lucky!
And Pa is wondering why they are losing hunters!!! :smack:

You beat me to the post Ken!
We did plenty of scouting when we found these places, they always had plenty of deer and it sounded like a war zone at ALL of them, plus everywhere else in the area on the first day of buck, we "HAD" deer everywhere.
Like you, my buddy and I walked miles to hunt spots we had scouted, furthest was 2 1/2 miles back and two benches down on the top of a mountain, "NO MORE", where we went 7 for 7, one stand was on the rock-strewn side of the mountain, overlooking a narrow bench, with about a 50 degree slope where we had to get them out of, maybe only a 80yd. drag up that slope, across and between rocks, but "NO MORE".
I'm almost 77, my buddy is 71 with all kinds of pain problems, not being able to hunt the "NO MORE" spots anymore isn't helping us at all!

I hear you. I’m 75 until 11/3. My deer hunting buddies have either passed, moved out of the area or medically can’t hunt. My hunting area is high in the Sierras between 6000 and 8000+ feet where when you’re not acclimated it’s hard to breath just sitting by the camp fire. And I too notice a decrease in deer and an increase in idiot lazy slob hunters. I can still duck and pheasant hunt but for me deer hunting is just memories.

And yet there seem to be as many road kills as ever... Sometimes so many you have to wonder where all the deer are that are producing a population that can sustain all the road kills.

    Good morning all. :pccoffee:

I'm not a hunter myself, tried it when I was younger but just didn't really enjoy it. I'm in York County, PA and see deer almost daily on my way to work and in the early evenings. Sadly in most of the places I'm seeing them hunting is not allowed or too close to houses.

If you get lucky the wiring may be in place. Not so lucky on my 09 Tacoma but I was 15 years younger then so wiring the backup cam was no big deal.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Nice one.

Good morning. Got in late last night so I will blow off the gym till the afternoon. Need to be at the early voting center tonight at 5pm to set up the center for voters tomorrow. I am expecting a larger than normal turn out for early voting.

This is the first season in nearly50 years of deer hunting that I can hunt my own property.
Archery only as I'm just shy of the footage rule for slug gun or muzzleloader, but that's OK.
Been getting pics of mostly does and skippers all year, but this old guy is making his presence known.
Captain Midnight has been nocturnal, but is now showing up in the day.
    He's on my short list.

Great healthy meat for the winter! Yummy!

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood!
Picked up 5 55 gal trash cans of leaves yesterday from one small ash tree. Blew off patios, driveway and walkways again (daily occurrence until either all the leaves are down, or the fall winds start!) Nice day to be outside and soaking up some vitamin D.

Today…kettlebells, then back outside to blow everything off. Prepare an early dinner for grandbabe (she gets home from school at 3:00 and works at 4:00). Then I can relax with an evening glass of red wine on the porch. Ah life is tough! A lesser man couldn’t handle my wonderful life! LOL!

Make this a wonderful day you moldy oldies! Enjoy it!

Roller coaster temps around here for the past week - as low as 49º some mornings and over 100º some afternoons. I'd really like to "retire" the AC for the year - too many days over 100º this year!

My little hummingbird backdoor guardian followed me out to water the peppers yesterday. Once again pulled his/her trick of "bathing" in the wet leaves - seems really strange behavior not seen before. I'm still filling the hummer feeder - they haven't headed to Mexico yet and several are hanging around the yard.

We don't usually see any of the Coues deer - little whitetails - until late Dec or January.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Another hot day by afternoon. Got therapy, early voting, and a kidney doc I don't need to see, but was told to anyway.

RAV has a hundred cams internally - they work just fine. This is a dash cam and wired rear cam for recording idiots. Not a hard job; just more bending and twisting than I'm up to right now.

My 5 hummers all left a couple of weeks ago :pout: I miss seeing them fighting over 3 feeders.

I got to "retire" my ac for the year about 2 weeks ago :yay:
