First gear at idle is pretty damned quick? 2015 OR v6 m6

    I've had my 2015 for 8 months now, and it has already tied my old Honda Fit for best vehicle I've ever owned; obviously for vastly different reasons, but still.
    I have found first gear (and conversely, reverse) to be really fast for close manuvering. For instance, going up my driveway and into the backyard where my shop is requires two rather short radius turns in quick succession along a pretty narrow path. Going in first, even at idle, requires some seriously fast wheel turns to avoid hitting the fence or the house, or braking and threatening to stall the engine, or alternating brake/clutch/brake/clutch, and some gas to keep things turning. To be sure, it's up a pretty steep slope, but nonetheless, it definitely keeps my attention and has more than once ended up with a smell of toasty clutch.
    Same thing when backing up close to an obstacle going uphill (like up to my garage door); I have to play fast with the clutch to keep the truck going but not too quickly, and the brake/gas to keep it from stalling/ramming the door.
    Do you all find the same thing; first gear, even at idle, moves along pretty damned quick? I'm used to first being barely beyond a crawl, even in my old VW Type III, which had some seriously long legs, first gear was barely a slow walk.
    Not complaining, just checking to see if my experience is shared, and how you folks handle it.

    You'd be a good candidate for the 2Lo anytime mod.
    The bad part is, the guy who made them, doesn't make it anymore.

    Basically, it allows you to use low range in 2WD.

    Ah, that would have been useful. So it isn't just me then. Good to know. I've driven pretty much everything there is that has a clutch and not had a challenge like this. More practice it is then!

    It's a known issue. My 2012 5 spd is definitely the same story.
    I read somewhere on here that they didn't have room in the case for the bigger gears for reverse and first, hence the speed..

    There used to be a member who made something called a 2 low module; it would allow you to use the low range in 2wd for slow maneuvering. I'm still looking for one.
    they occasionally show up here for sale used, but pretty rare these days.

    That would be so, SO handy. Until then, I'll improve my pedal skills!
