On my '24 TRD OR the 4 wire flat plug receiver does not receive the 4 wire flat plug from two different trailers or my extension plugs. These have worked on many other pickups including 3 previous Tacoma's, 2 Tundra's and a Ford. Anyone else have this problem and come up with a solution? I ended up using the 7 wire receiver with a 7 to 4 adapter; the plug fit the adapter just fine. I'm thinking for $45K the trailer plug should fit without any adapters.

Seems simple enough to find where/what is interfering with the plug figment and fix it.

You'd think. As you know the 4 parts are molded into the receiver. In this case they are spaced far enough apart that the plug parts, which are also molded in but have worked with multiple other vehicles, do not match with those in the pickup's set up. I'm sure there is a "standard" somewhere, but in my OR they missed. That is why I am asking. I whittled down the rubber around the plug which I've not had to do before, but it still doesn't line up.

Interesting, I figured it would be a problem with dimensions not matching between the plug and socket size. I’ve had some where the pins aren’t perfect like that and have been able to kinda rock it into place by lining up the lowest pin and then pivoting the plug up while pushing in.
