Good morning guys :hattip: Sorry for the Monday morning good morning faux pas. I clearly didn’t have enough coffee in me when I typed that lol.

It was a busy babysitting day yesterday. A couple of small projects to do here at the house today. Tomorrow is looking like a goof off day :fingerscrossed:

Have a great Tuesday! (Hopefully this makes up for yesterday :D)

Good morning to my favorite followers, have a great Thursday!

Yesterday I went on a little solo adventure as my normal adventure buddy Mike was busy. Since it was just me I decided to try something new, I took my high frequency ham radio down to the beach inside the National Park area for what’s called a Parks on the Air Activation. This is a ham radio event where you can go to certain parks and call for contacts (activators) or answer the ones who are calling (hunters). It’s an award program that’s pretty popular with us radio nerds and it helps practice our skills in setting up portable or field operations. If you want more info on this check out the POTA website at https://parksontheair.com/index.html

It was an enjoyable day that had me outside in the sun and fresh air for about 4 hours. During that time I made 15 contacts across the US. The band was really getting active as I was packing up so I could have had more if I stuck around.

Mike just got his license so I can see us doing this pretty regularly for a 2-fer activation.

Heading over to the barrier island. Of course it’s condo central as soon as you get over there. Fortunately, you quickly drive out of our built up area into this

    upload_2024-10-24_8-28-51.jpg

Which is a nice drive with much better views
    upload_2024-10-24_8-33-55.jpg
(this is actually driving back which is why you see the condos in the distance)

My office for the day, I will definitely have my awning mounted for the next activation.

Map of my contacts for the day. The one up at Lake Erie was a 860 mile hop.
