How long until it gets its own "up-armor kit" like the character arc of the HMMWV? lol

Took a trip through the west edge of the Mojave desert to Red Rocks Canyon State Park. Also came across the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Also seems the warning signs should be legible from the distance they want you stay away. That notice isn’t much bigger than a standard no trespassing sign. Thanks to @Topanga Taco for the recommendation of the MK trails.

A few shots from my road trip out west (from the east coast). Just over 7,000 miles in two weeks in the Taco.

The first photo is probably my favorite from the trip because we were actually above the clouds as you can see in the distance.

Yeah it was a good day. That climb is MK34 and was fun. After hitting the top on the way down it linked up with MK38 and I found that same ditch section you posted. Then took MK22/LAP all the way across. Fun trip for my stock truck and giving me an itch to spend money on upgrades :spending:

I loved the pictures posted on this thread so far!

This was my first time using the 4H & 4L. Drove into the mountain in Georgia. I forgot to take better pics. Weather was so nice until it start pouring.

Most people fly right by that section you did straight to Jawbone. I have been really enjoying it and found a sweet spot for my 3,000’ foot hot saw testing. The desert is the kind of all kinds because ot has very little vegetation, depending on location of course, a forest boasts, but damn it is so damn beautiful.

For your next trip, I highly suggest you wheel south of Robbers Roost. 3 alluvial fans to prospect. Very beautiful country. I posted a thread a while back, I’ll search for you. The further off the 14 you go, the more scenic it becomes. Dig that one photo you took looking out at the desert from the top. *THOSE SCENES ARE MAGNIFICENT TO EXPERIENCE*

Yeah if you could share that post I’d appreciate it. I’ve never spent much time in the desert, only on the 58 to drive through. I always thought it was kind of ugly and boring. But now that I’ve gotten off the highway and spent sometime looking around I have to say I was very wrong about it. I’ll add Robbers Roost to the list for a future trip.

Not that bad, nothing really technical but not for those who don't like living on the edge.

Where I turned around is where you can continue into the adjacent valley. Hook up with Jawbone Canyon Road and you can get home via the back way. Search it on Maps, you’ll eventually find a way back. Good stuff.

@vettencle Here is where I turned around. You will continue straight and into the valley. Then go southwest into the Piut Mountains and over. I can’t recall which of the alluvials it was south of Robbers Roost. Beautiful country. Or just take Jawbone Canyon Road all the way off the 395. Good stuff.

Thanks for the detailed info and photos. I’ll search the area for routes. I grabbed a Jawbone/BLM Ridgecrest map during last weeks trip so should come in handy.
