I am getting a slight vibration / chatter when accelerating. It only happens between about 22-42 MPH. If I let off the accelerator it stops. I have had one person tell me they think it is the carrier bearing but my mechanic believes it is the transmission and he doesn't work on transmissions. Truck is a 2009 with 155,000 miles. Trying to get some guidance and what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you see if putting it in a specific gear forces the vibration or if it is truly dependent on speed? Carrier bearings are relatively cheap, especially at your mileage it might be worth swapping it and seeing.

    Yeah.
You can crawl under there and grab the driveshaft and see how much play there is in the carrier bearing rubber. It shouldn't move a lot. At that age and those miles, I would bet the rubber is toast if it is original.

Go look at it. A stock carrier bearing with 155k is worn. Thats cheaper and easier to deal with.

22 mph isn’t fast enough or in the right gear for it to be the “common” torque converter shudder.

But at 40-45 mph. It could be.
To test, continue to press the gas. At the same time, touch the brake pedal just slightly. All we need is for the brake lights to come on. If the shudder goes away when you press the brake pedal. I’d lean towards the transmission.

That said, as of now. Your symptoms sound like a driveline issue. Carrier or u/joint issue.
