My 4th Gen has about the same range as my 2nd Gen. I salute those of you who can drive long enough to drain a 25 gallon tank without having to stop and take a leak.

All this talk about range… Man just go drive one, it’s light years ahead of previous Tacoma generations. The pick up and low end torque will have you smiling and your concerns of range are out the door.

Get some tanks or swap in a bigger OEM tank. Ppl have done it on 2022+ Tundras.

Light years in powertrain, sure as a turbo with more gears should be, reliability and overall build quality...

I drove 264 miles yesterday on 14.4 gallons, for a mpg of 18.3. Extrapolating that to the full tank results in 335 mile range for that trip. The driving condition was 4 mountain passes, countless hills and and some flat interstate. Unless someone was in my way, I was traveling between 80-90 mph. There was some stop and go traffic which crushed the average speed of the trip to 66 mph. I have 285/70/17 Nokian Outpost nAT Standard Load and a RSI Smartcap. The truck was loaded with camping gear and a mountain bike.

The open road performance of the 4th gen over previous gens is a completely different driving experience. It is smoother, it handles high speed corners better and the perceived power exceeds the numbers. The truck charges over mountain passes at 90 plus mph at about 3k rpm. According to my opinion, it's not any better than previous generations when off road. My initial impression is that it is less capable. I don't "wheel," but do drive too fast down rutted logging roads and this truck appears limited by the lack of front bump stops. It's quite easy to bottom out the front end and until there's an external bump-stop solution, I'll have to adjust my driving.

For now, its a much better truck to drive to go hunting, but not as good once you get there.

I just did the same 2023 switch to the 2024

    What I loved:

    • The fixed the stupid remote start issue when vehicle would shut off as you get into it after using remote start. After coming from a non Toyota this was almost enough to want to return this vehcile.
    • Tailgate now auto locks with rest of vehicle power locks.
    • Much more get up and go vs the v6 2023, much better at passing now.
    • Fuel Economy reminds me of my 06 Corolla Sport lol
    What I didn't love:

    • OMG my rage shrunk, I lost about 100or so KMs of range 62-65 Miles with this smaller gas tank, this is my biggest gripe.
    • Power seats are GONE! I only had a SR/SR+ with power drivers seat, I now have all manual on my TRD Offroad with power lumbar.
    • Dual zone climate control is gone had it on my 2023 , missing on the 2024
    • While I kind of like the new square hood and front fenders, there's now a huge blind spot on front L/R fenders.
    • Fuel NOW reading, on my 2023 I have a picture of 1-2 KM (just over a mile lol) to empty, when I was driving it this weekend towing, I had maybe 30--60Kms left somewhere below that it change to Re-Fuel NOW type of message and would not should you how much you have left to empty..some how I made it to the gas station :D
    My 2 cents :p

The power seats aren't gone. They're in the option packages.

To be entirely honest, I don't understand why people have such hatred for manual seats. It's not like it requires a ton of effort to adjust them. Personally, my only gripe is that I feel like they should have put the height adjustment lever someplace else. It's in the same place you'd expect the seatback angle adjustment lever to be. I find I have to go fishing for the seatback angle adjust. It's better than the adjustments on my old BMW, though. That's a row of three handles along the side of the seat that all feel the same and, while labelled, can't be seen unless you open the door and lean over to look at them.

I feel like the pinnacle of seat height adjustment was what my '97 Legacy Outback had. There was a lever on the front third of the left side of the seat that you'd grab a knob to telescope out a lever. You'd pull that lever back to raise the seat or push it forward to lower it. When you let go, the lever would telescope back into the housing, out of the way. Clever as hell.

Frankly, the old GM [late 60's to 80's] electric seats [and the telescoping and tilt steering wheel] will never be bettered. EVER. Period. End of story.

You should have looked at 4th gen first before you purchase it that way you make sure you want the features you mentioned... Power seats are optional or on selected trim. Same to the dual zone climate control. You should let the dealer know that you want those features so they will find a truck for you based on your wanted features.

If you get a tune on '23, it will be better than factory '24. My truck is lot faster on taking off.

I am glad that Toyota added lock to the tailgate. Mine was an add-on.

Could be! I've not had the occasion to experience them. What's so great about them?

Forward, back, up, down, back goes forward and backwards, if you couldn't get comfortable, you were likely a dwarf with legs that were 80% of your body. The telescoping steering had a HUGE range of up down shorter or longer range and an actual U joint in it. U just used a little metal lever to adjust it and not some cheap plastic piece that literally moved it just a couple inches at best and got floppy if used a lot.

    Very appealing vehicle for sure.

But hasn't every recently released EV come out significantly more expensive than originally promised at introduction?

I think I just chose to use my $ in a different manner than many. :playball:

I have no doubt the truck is much fresher than the 3g. And certainly than my 2g 5 lug. It sounds like it's Ridgeline comfy!

But since our current transportation meets or exceeds our needs, I've no desire to chase the 'next shiny thing'.

Not even close. I had a tuned 22, and the new 24 blows it away.

That’s a little extreme buddy. Is it new / design looking ? Yes ….POS … I don’t think so. Now when that turbo motor has 100 k on it and runs perfect , let the stones fly. I really hope that’s the case, new doesn’t always mean better. It just means new.

My 19 off road is set up the same . I could care less about power seats, and dual zone climate controls , the front of a midsize truck is so small. When I want it warmer I turn the dial either cooler or warmer
My driver seat I adjusted when I picked up the truck 5 years ago…. I haven’t touched it since lol. All this extra stuff makes everything cost so much more . I bought the off-road because I liked the way it looked at the time.. If I were to buy new , I would get your same set up .

    Like, so many.
I'm gonna need to see some specs on that back seat, because the one I drove seemed to have even less room than my 3rd gen.
