During an oil change I found some rust forming by the catalytic converters. From some research I have done its a pretty standard spot for it to form in the boxed in areas. Due to multiple layers of steel pressed together allowing dirt and moisture to remain.

Its a 2005 in great shape over all and just rolled over 200k. Obviously, I'm well past the recall for frame replacement. I'm looking to get some more years out of the truck.

I found some frame repair kits which seem like they would help.

Here a youtube video of a guy installing the parts.

Post some pictures of your frame. People can give you a better idea of how repairable it is. If you've found some rust, time to get under the truck and spend some time looking for more with a hammer and screwdriver. It probably isn't isolated to that one spot and better to know what you have before you try to figure out how to repair.

As to SafeTCaps, I just got some put on my truck about a month back, but on the C sections not in the fully boxed as I was still solid that far forward. Overall seems like a good option, but make sure to call them since you have a DCLB, its a different set of parts and I had to do some back and forth shipping since the first set didn't fit. Second set was perfect. While you're doing it, I recommend that you needle-scale the frame and paint it with POR-15 or a similar rust converter. There's a thread on here about DIY frame repair that has more information. It's not a fun job, but should help keep you from dealing with this again.
