Oh, you'll just be a "toe and go" then. That really doesn't require much skill on the rack, unless you also have adjustable uppers.

I was a Toyota tech for many years before transitioning to IT. I've aligned MANY of these trucks, as I was deeply involved in the frame replacements on the 2nd gen Tacomas and 1st gen Tundras. With all the practice, I got quite good at dialing them in! Worked for New Country in Saratoga for 8.5 years at the end of my stretch turning wrenches.

Caster and camber will get set at the upper control arm on my truck, I'm sure it's close but I recently swapped the ball joints out of them and want to make sure all my numbers are good, new country is my local dealer now! Seems like a good enough place from the couple times I've visited the parts department

I'd recommend Romeo in Glens Falls over New Country, actually. My best friend is the shop foreman there, and I know he runs a tight ship. He keeps an eye on the service department and makes sure hacks are weeded out quickly. He's actually the one that does all the maintenance work on my truck for me, albeit on the side. We worked together for many years. He was at New Country for some time after my departure (something like 17 years in total) before moving to Romeo.

My new LCAs will be here this week, I am taking the approach of living in a magical imaginary world hoping that my cam bolts are specialer than everyone else's and won't be siezed...wish me luck.

Also, the wife came home and asked if I could look at her car because the TPMS light came on. So i look out the window and spot a flat on her car, I was thrilled at first thinking it would be the perfect opportunity to use all my new tire equipment to patch and rebalance the tire...turns out she drove on the flat for a while and grooved the sidewall pretty bad. So instead of fixing it for free we spent $250 on a new pair or tires.

Just ordered a new set of cam bolts from KP offroad just in case I need to get destructive.

If anyone wants to help fund my addiction to tools and other shit I don't need I can help with the following specialty stuff on weekends and some nights:
    • Tire Mounting and Road-Force Balancing
    • Shock/strut assembly/dis-assembly
    • TPMS cloning/programming
    • Tire repair (I will not patch sidewalls or do anything else a regular tire shop wouldn't repair)
    • Bussman RTMR building, (I am not extremely experienced or fast with building these, just have all the tools and am very thorough)
    • Metri-pack/weatherpack Deutsche/CAT connector crimping
Most of this stuff started out with me losing trust in shops/dealerships who either do shit wrong or carelessly, shops often causing cosmetic damage to wheels that is easily avoidable, and not wanting to take time off of work to go to a reputable shop during normal Monday through Friday business hours.

If you are local, need anything in those categories and don't want to shell out money for the tools/equipment send me a message here or on Instagram where I am slightly more active @fensgarage

Just picked the truck back up this morning, no issues aligning it and it feels much better to drive! Pricey, but that's the name of the game with these uppers it seems, and I definitely needed it

Hello New Yorkers. My daughter is moving to the Schenectady area in October - does anyone know of good mechanics up there? She will be on her own and will need one from time to time for the 2006 4Runner. Thank you!

Gil’s Garage in Burnt Hills has a solid reputation. Easy ride up Rt50 from Schenectady. You also can’t go wrong the Warren Tire shops for general maintenance and tires. There’s one on State St in Schenectady.

Second Gil’s Garage, they take good care of vehicles and are honest about the need for repairs. I’m 2-3 miles from them, use them for anything I don’t do myself.
