I’ve been having an brain wave.

The toyota rack and pinion setup is known as a soft spot on Tacos and 4runners. I’ve heard over the years that there’s nothing to do about it, besides make token gestures like getting a tundra or LC rack, yell bitterly at the clouds, or spending 30 grand on a whole new front end with swing sets and teeter totters (something like that, anyway lol).

But what about fabricating a setup to accept a recirculating ball system? Yes, I’m asking if we can just jeep the hell out our toyotas…..:D

seriously though, someone make this thought go away before it burns a hole in my noggin. I don’t even need to do this, yet it’s in my head

Or cry once, per month, for as many times as you can stretch the payments! In the spirit of this thread, of course

add it here. I'd be curious what the cost would be, and what the slop is. My guess is it would still suffer the same problems our current racks do -- low line pressure means wheel-side impacts are transferred through the rack and felt in the steering wheel.

I watched a couple of Tacomas in Moab with the wheel more than 90 degrees out of alignment with the tires on Hell's Revenge. I think the only steering solution is SAS and exoskeleton with a flatbed. Just say'in

If you're only using the chase light with the fogs and only use them offroading or when it's. uhh, foggy....is it really going to be that bright to the person behind?

I wouldn't think it'd be blinding or anything.
Nothing like some of the flunkin headlights they got out there.

edit: the flood sport is only 1000 lumens. (pro is 2200)
My Olight Baton Pro flashlight is 1500

Ask @Stoney Ranger about mine. He would promptly remind me to turn it off as soon as we got out of the dust in Arkansas.

I used to get flashed when these were on the truck as fog lights and I had them pointed below what was specified by DD... I'm not buying the pro's when I replace them.

Diff takes up too much room.

    Portals is the only answer

You can some sit in front of my fogs when I turn them on if you like :D

I switched to pros on mine for forward fogs. Cutoff is nice.

Yeah, aim those fuggers down!! The chase rig only has to see the glow of the chase light. Looking into the beam got real old, real fast.

It wasn't as bad as looking into the sun, but it was very annoying.

Do a favor for the guy behind you. Aim those fuggers down. It may take a trip or 3 to get the beam just right.

    I'm still thinking....

As much as I'd love to help I haven't got to the chapter on rack and pinions.
