You're a fine American for helping out in the ways you have.

Spending a fair bit of time in Southern VA, I was always impressed with the resilience and grit that gets instilled in that part of the country, some by culture, and some by necessity.

 

This one? Shit, it looks like I even could have got my knee down if I would have had better body position! I definitely struggle mentally to get off the bike. I'm a bigger guy, so it feels a bit sketchy moving THAT much weight around on the bike.

 

haha that's the one I was thinking of! You definitely could have, I get it though. As always, the pics are humbling as ever. I felt I was hanging pretty well off at those turns but I guess not lol

 

Can't remember if I told y'all yet, but Friday I should be getting the 701SM! Grabbing a U-Haul motorcycle trailer Thursday night, meeting halfway Friday early afternoon to do the swap. I think I'm going to miss the S1000XR, but I need to get rid of it before I get arrested or killed lol.

He should be picking up the title from his credit union today. Red flags worked out! I'm waiting for him to send me a picture of it so I know its really real and then I'm hoping to start ordering some parts tonight (tail tidy, turn signals front and back, oil change kit, and a countershaft seal kit)

Wow, hope you are holding up. Good to hear your home place was mostly spared. And lots of good on you for stepping up and helping neighbors. I've spent a lot of time over that way and know folks whose worlds were wiped out, others who were spared.

You've been prepping for the war zone for many years, so now you're one of the helpers.

 

Caught the break in rain

 

Mostly regrouped after being on the yearly guys trip out to Lone Pine CA. Riding buddy of mine and I showed up a day early to get some extra riding in. TONS of elevation gain from the valley floor at ~3500-3600ft up to 9400+ Managed 225 miles total almost all off road. Two SOLID rides on thurs/friday, 130 mi on Thursday, 65 miles on friday and the rest on sat just putting around with everyone else.

Started ordering 701SM parts.. countershaft repair kit, oil change kit, and heated grips. Updated my insurance information (went down $62, even though I raised my coverage, whoop whoop). I'm pumped for tomorrow.

 

Looks like first order of business will be a nice bath for it.. but hey, it's starting to get real! Probably going to order up a tail tidy and rear turn signals tonight. The drilled plate into the plastic isn't doing it for me
