Northern California Camping Suggestions?

I'm going camping with a few friends in June and I'm looking for the perfect place. So I figured I would ask you guys for some input! I have not done a lot of "camping" nature style, mostly with an RV and dirt bikes so i don't really have any good spots to go to that i can think of.

What I'm looking for:

Something forest type, not too facilitated, but maybe a bathroom would be nice for the girlfriends. Fishing would be a plus. Some water, lake or creek/river/stream. Hiking trails. Camp fires permitted(preferably not ones that force you to bring your own wood..)!!! Also, if there happens to be a place with some off road trails me and a friend could take the trucks on. That would be a huge plus for me, but I'm sure half of the people don't care too much for this so it can be the first to cut out if there is no such place that I'm looking for.. haha

As for location, within a 4ish hour radius of the Bay Area, unless there is an exceptionally awesome place farther north.

you just described the same kind of camping trip I'm planning with my buddies this year.

 

Btw Brian check out Stumpy Meadows in the El Dorado National Forrest. They have exactly what you are asking for, even some off road trails nearby. We went there 2 years in a row and looking for a new place this year.

I highly recommend camping Tioga Pass or any of the areas in the Mono Lakes area. Its a little farther than 4 hours though...maybe 6ish but well worth it. Big Bend campground at the bottom of Tioga Pass is by far one of my favorite spots to camp. Great fishing and hiking. There's tons of lakes too. Its right on the back side of Yosemite too so you have the option to go into the park for $20/week and check out all that stuff too if you want. I take my family at least once a year.

Shaver Lake! And camp atop of Bald Mountain! No bathrooms or anything like that but totally worth it!

 

There is Elk Mtn for Dirt bikes and offroading. The camp spots very from Middle Creek staging area to Penny pines and Deer Camp. There is a nice creek running most of the time. Not sure if it has any fish or not. Here is a link to the area. We have stayed at both the lower campgrounds an the Penny pines campgrounds as well as the Deer Camp camp grounds. I have lead a few trips up thru this area with fellow tacomer's. There is restrooms there but no showers.

American River, Lake Del Valle, Yuba River, Lake Berryessa, etc. are all good spots
