    Well, I bought a second bushing, the one intended for Chevy after the first one failed as it only lasted a couple of months and that’s being kind. I also babied my tailgate, opened it slowly and I did heat the part before and during install. I think I’m going to just get a 2024 truck, not just because the tailgate, I am also getting tired of the belt noises, the ones that still exist after changing the belt and 2 pulleys. I just hate the idea of another first year of a new model, before the kinks are worked out

    The Napa Bushing I mentioned above failed. Not wanting to buy the updated tailgate assist assy, I bought one more Napa Bushing and just removed the damper. No more tension on the bushing causing it to fail but also no more tailgate assist. Tailgate opens and closes fine without the assist. Super easy to remove just the damper.

    It is unfortunate that it comes down to this. Parts should be available for vehicles less than 10 years old. It was probably costing the bushing supplier 3-6 cents to mold these, they should have produced thousands before retiring the mold. I might buy a 3rd Napa bushing and remove the assist. Please post of yours fails again. Thanks

    I’ve been using the Amazon one for a week or so and so far so good. I went through 2 NAPPA bushings in a short period and I think I paid $20-30 for each one. Even if the Amazon one fails in 2 months, it comes with 2 and is a fraction of the price. No brainer
