I've only been hunting a handful of years, but a couple years back, I thought I'd find more deer if I walked 2 miles in to the woods. It took doing that twice and walking back to the truck only to find fresh deer turds within 100 yds of the truck, before I stopped trying to walk the furthest into the woods. I didn't really understand topography then, and realized it did be no good to blowout 2 miles worth of woods at the very beginning of season walking up and down ridges through 2 hardwood bottoms verses just sitting 80 yds from the truck over a ridge with a shelf the deer walk daily... Of course this only seems to pay off early season before they pattern a truck coming in every 6-7 days to park lol. But sure beats what I was trying to do, and yields better results at that. Sometimes those closest trees are the best ones!

That’s a new guy that’s with me on this trip. Father in law was military so he is using some of his gear. That pack is massive lol

I’m rocking a mystery ranch frame day pack and KUIU’s big pack for longer trips

Good luck brother!! Was wondering how you were doing...

Picked up a Kuiu Venture 1800 Daypack with internal frame during their sale. 50% off. I think if I did a load out right I could do a 2 night stay with it. wish it wasn't as long and maybe a bit wider. I understand why it's narrow, but two inches or so shorter and two inches wider, would suit me better.

I got a mystery ranch pintler. Actually I got a few mystery ranches hunting packs. I have the Marshall and some older one. I run the exo mountain k4 7800 for some of my expeditions hunts.
