2021 TRD OR Auto, --Wandering if anyone else's truck makes a pretty noticeable gear shift noise when shifting in reverse or when in first gear starting off. Mine makes an audible noise (the sound of the gear "engaging"for lack of a better description. "Metal on metal" may be a better way to put it. No other gear does it, only in first and in reverse. Once out of first, it doesn't do it. Only during the slow roll starting out. Is there concern for this noise? Any remedy if so?

Do you come to a complete stop before shifting to and from reverse?

It occurs before coming to a stop. During the rolling backwards of reverse, only does it one time. Same for after I put it in drive and roll forward up a hill or whatever. It makes a noticeable gear changing "clunk"if you will and that's it. I'm really wanting to know if it is "normal" 3rd Gen Tacoma noise or if there is something I need to address. Thanks for the responses, I will check the fluids.

And you are correct Mallcrawler, these trucks are noisy as hell. It's unusual. My 2005 4Runner was butter smooth even well past 200k miles. Crazy.
