    Just getting started :)
    Hi...

I just purchased a new 2024 Tacoma SR Double Cab in Ice Cap. While a basic model, I'm really enjoying it so far. It has been tough not throwing a bunch of money at it since I'm dealing with the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, but hopefully some day soon. Getting it professionally detailed and ceramic coated next week.

Anyway, I have a Buy / Sell / Trade question I'm hoping someone could help with.

There is an item for sale I'm interested in, but being a new member, I'm not allowed to post to (this particular) thread until I've been a member for 30 days.

So can I contact the seller directly, outside of the for sale thread, or is this consider verboten/bad/grounds for banishment?

    Thank you!!!

Welcome to TW! As far as I know, you can DM the seller without any issue, you just can’t post anything for sale until you meet the requirements.

Welcome! I have a 3rd gen SR with 4x4. I saw a 4th gen plain bare bones SR with 4x4 at the dealer a couple weeks ago. I was very impressed! Havent driven one, but they are sharp looking.

I'm usually a buy used kind of guy, but my searches for "clean" 3G Tacoma's was hard going. I'm super particular about paint, and most I saw just had too many paint issues for the premium price used Tacoma's were going for with more miles than I really wanted. So on a whim, I stopped in at a Toyota dealer and was a bit sticker-shocked by the SR5 Tacoma's on the lot. As I was walking around, I happened across a lone SR that was more my speed price-wise. Again, usually buying used, I was still like "daaaamn" that's a lot of money for a truck!? To put my mind's reference point in perspective, my first truck was a new 1991 Isuzu, no a/c, part of a fleet deal gone bad - $5900. I was working part time at a grocery store at that time, so I was able to get a three year car loan - my payments were $69 / month - lol.

My previous vehicle was a Midnight Black 2019 Camry SE - I did a TON of stuff to that car; lowered, wheels and tires, stereo, lots of subtle interior and exterior updates, ceramic coated, blah, blah, blah. It was flooded in Hurricane Helene (along with my house) and declared a total loss. So I decide to go from a lowered sedan to a (not yet lifted, but much higher) Tacoma. I was able to pay for this Tacoma in cash with the money from the insurance company plus some savings money. I haven't had a car payment since that Isuzu pickup 33 years ago!

Been looking into mild lift kits, but most that are out there are for the SR5 with the (I guess it would be called) trailing link / coil spring suspension. Not seeing much out there for the leaf spring-equipped SR. But admittedly I haven't delved into Tacoma World yet to see if others have found solutions. I think Westcott Designs has one for the 2024 that they stated works with the SR. When I contacted them, they stated that the kit comes with block spacers and longer u-bolts for the SR. Something to consider. But again, my money needs to go towards living arrangements first, but boy is it hard not to put money into a new truck. Been a mild "gear head" since I was a wee lad.

Anyway, enough rambling. Thank you all (and to all that may post after) for the warm welcome.

Helene was a B!TCH! We had some surge damage here, but my daughter and son-in-law lost both their cars. His was 2022 Camry. He cried about it, seriously. She lost a 22 Jeep. Insurance covered them.
I bought my Tacoma at the very end of the 3rd gen build. It was built in November and I bought in December last year. I haven't seen any issues with the paint. I am a cash buyer too. No debt. That is why I went with economy of a SR but still wanted the 4X4 for our farm. Going to the dealer tomorrow for another "free" oil change , already have 25k miles on it. No one problem at all. Great truck.
