B.A.M.F Rear Diff skid plate

It's a great product, and I used the hell out of it, but it won't fit on the Ford 9" axle I'm getting...

 

Installed mine today on my 16' OR. I have a few questions about fitment. Both rear clamps aren't plumb and are definitely not straight. I did keep everything loose and hammered it around, but no matter what every time I tightened everything up, they ended up crooked. Also, the front clamp is more forward than I expected it to be. However, even by itself it wouldn't fit onto the third member any farther back. My concern is that it is putting forward tension on the pinion shroud. Any thoughts or suggestions?

 

My diff skid sits on the axle like that as well @littlefish
I tried adjusting it thinking it was installed wrong but it kept tightening up like that. I figured if it’s nice and snug it won’t matter.

 

What size are these bolts?

Is anyone interested in a group buy for the 1st gen Tacoma rear diff skid?

 

I’ve searched the thread and haven’t found anything definitive or specific.

So are there any differences between the 8” elocker and 8.4” non elocker version that would make them non interchangeable?

 

The 2nd gen is the same skid. only the 3rd gens have specific models for the locked and open diffs.

I got mine yesterday and having some minor fitment issues at the pinon clamp, even after filing off the powder-coating.


I’m guessing that part was updated because it doesn’t look like the website.

 

Any 2nd gen production runs on deck? Was going to order this week.

 

We have some at the press brake ready to form. But no pending orders so it would be finished after the order.

 

Just put in an order for one. Whats lead time like?

 

8.0 skids are about 3 to 4 weeks out right now.

 

And that’s the locking diff right? Or is there a difference for the 2nd gen Tacoma?

 

Correct the 8.0/8.4 skid is for 2nd gens.

 

Dragging the rear diff is not so cringe when you have a BAMF diff skid.
