Yea... yea... that's exactly it!

 

Looks to me with my non-expert and correctively enhanced eyesight you might be able to close in the open section by mirroring (maybe closely) the angle back to the corner. Ground level, any asymmetry won’t be noticed unless from above (plane, drone, flying superheros)

We have discovered that 2 days in a row hurt too much.

 

When we opened the trunk it had about six inches of animal output, aka: poo...



Fortunately there is a large corroded hole in the trunk floor so we were able to use a rake and get rid of the majority of it -- I already have way out of state plates on a heavily loaded bright orange truck, no need to call further attention to ones self by dumping 100 pounds of critter crap on the highway.

 

The rear foot well provided:
1 dime
1 nickel
1 somewhere mangled small engine flywheel
Some shredded fabric

and...

Lots more poo.

 

I have the floor mats, too bad they are so degraded as they are original Ford.

Unfortunately I can smell these pictures...

 

Good for you both . Makes sense if there’s no urgency.

With gloves, a small shovel & leaf blower things are a bit less bad.

This was a flashy car when new.



Quite an expensive model too, the XL 500 was the only model offered with the bucket seats/console/floor shift.

This one also has the big block engine, automatic transmission, AC, power steering & brakes along with a 2 speaker radio.



In 1965 your neighbors new Plymouth or Chev would look pretty plain compared to this Galaxie.

 

Does it have ashtrays in armrests?

I have done this to newbies that couldn’t figure out how to do it themselves.

 

I think they, along with all the animal waste, would make mighty fine additions to The Grand Prize Wearhouse And Pool Parlor Emporium. Yes indeed I dew.

 

'65 Galaxie? I just tapped in on this thread so maybe I missed the pics of the outside of the car. I went back a few pages and didn't find any. Care to post them? I restored a '62 XL 500 convertible that had been sitting in a junk yard and moved around with a forklift for over twenty years. People thought I was crazy but the car turned out very nice.
