Adding a manual lock to the tailgate?

I was looking at TRD Off-Roads this prior week and noticed that not all of them had a locking tailgate. I did not realize how much I liked having a manually locking tailgate until I purchased my 2021 TRD Off Road. A locking tailgate is a necessity for me.

For 2024, I know the Premium option package has the electronic tailgate system included. Maybe I missed something, but the 2024 TRD Off Road I tried out (with the lower "off road option package") did not have locking tailgate, manual or otherwise.

Is there a OEM manually locking tailgate without the electronics?
Is a locking tailgate only available via the Premium option package?
Is there an aftermarket option to add a manual tailgate lock? I found a couple for 3G, both electronic and manual, but none for 4G 2024.... links?)

 

Hmm. Mine is is the most basic Off Road trim without an Upgrade or Premium package and has a fob operated locking tailgate. I thought a power locking tailgate was part of the Smart Key system and was standard at the trim level, not the package level.

My 4gen SR5 also has an electronic locking tailgate.

 

My TRD Sport base has power locking tailgate. It annoyed the hell out of me because kept re-locking on me yesterday while I was installing my tonneau cover until I remembered that I had to go open one of the doors to get it to not automatically re-lock the whole thing.

 

The doors on my 2nd Gen would auto lock after a short period of time if the key was not inside the truck. I got in the habit of either leaving a door open or throwing the keys on the front seat when i wanted the Truck remain unlocked. Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not prefer my machines to do my thinking for me.
