looking for some sort of running board or slider . but dont want the 75lbs per side of slider.
i kinda like the look of the OEM cast aluminum boards but they seem expensive for what they are.

anyone have any ideas? i live in iowa there is a .000003% chance i will ever need the strength of actual sliders.

Greenlane aluminum "sliders" - similar to steel but made out of aluminum and about 35 lbs/side. They now say that their model fits both the non-Hybrid and Hybrid models so they've made some slight design changes to the original version.

4TH GEN TACOMA ALUMINUM SLIDERS WITH REAR KICK OUT – Greenlane Offroad

If and when I get a Trailhunter I'm likely to put these on for better rock chip protection (even though I believe that the Canadian models get the larger mudflaps as standard).

Yes, I had them on my Gen 3 and loved the look. Ordered a new set for my Gen 4 that just got shipped yesterday. This time I went with flat slider angle and full top deck. Will be replacing the OEM TRD running boards.

I went with Aluminum skids and steel sliders. If I had it to do over again I would definitely do Aluminum sliders. If you aren't heavily using your sliders then why not. Plus with the Aluminum. It's easy to apply heat and pound back into shape.

Some day I'll sell my steel for these.

please post some pics and a brief review on these when they arrive.

I was impressed when I reached out to the company with some questions. They were very responsive. And much the detriment of the Canadians, appreciating their shrinking currency relative to the dollar for a favorable exchange rate which is $1CAD = .72USD for a decent price on these.

Though I am a 3rd gen guy I have the Greenlane aluminum sliders and love them.
They function perfectly as light duty sliders and as a side step, plus their powder coating is top notch.
Just note there is an extra $70 fee if you are in the US once you get them for "duty" fees

I have used them as intended a couple times. Though it wasn't hard wheeling on boulders, it was just wussy midwest off roading.
They saved my rockers on a steep breakover once and my door panels from a tree stump in a tight trail.

Will do. I ordered mine during Canadian Thanksgiving when they had a "turkey day sale" - 10% off. Every year they do a Boxing Day (December 26th) sale usually at 15% off. With the 15%, free shipping & exchange rate you're looking at a very reasonable price IMO.

I got a separate bill from FedEx for duty fees a few weeks after my sliders showed up.

    I like them!! Look great
Looks like a decent light weight option...
Im actually working with a loca that used my first truck the 3d scan for their sliders & skidplates...
The most stout option of anything made, so def not light.

That's annoying. Seller should be selling them as "deliver duties paid" if they advertise as "free shipping." They check DDP on the customs form. Or at least communicate this: yes it adds cost, but I'd rather pay upfront vs a surprise bill later with the agent fees tacked on.

I guess that's the price of international commerce. I don't usually buy anything from overseas/cross border that hits the $800+ threshold.

I agree about the agent fees. I recently purchased the Motivx Oil Change Bundle for my son when I sold him the Gen3 truck (family discount :)). Duty (GST) into Canada was ~$5 and the agent fee was ~$18.

Running boards on a non-lifted truck seems somewhat superfluous. My 77 year old wife has no issues getting in and out. If wheeling is part of the plan, go with sliders; they work like running boards but won't get ripped off the truck off-roading.

They were sitting in the Canpar terminal 90km away for a week. Finally called for an ETA. They said "had to 3rd party them out and no idea on delivery". OMG, drove down and picked them up, less than 2 hours there and back. One bad thing about living out in mountain country. They're going to look great with the Greenlane skid I installed on the weekend.

Ok, installation is complete. Was quite easy even by myself. 1.5 hours total time including taking off the OEM TRD steps. The installation video at the Greenlane site really helps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6v2dTRQQy8) although since I have a longbed it is "slightly" different. I didn't need to remove all the frame plugs so just put them back in after installation. Since I don't have a scissor lift like the video, I balanced the slider on my floor jack to facilitate inserting a few of the initial bolts. Worked just fine. Overall very happy with the results.PXL_20241113_184404672.jpg PXL_20241113_214805263.jpg PXL_20241113_214821416.jpg PXL_20241113_203307522.jpg
