    Well my Kicker 660.5 smoked!

I’m taking this chance to upgrade to dual amps. For mids and highs I’m running Polk DB’s,100w rms @ 4 ohms. With a Polk d4000.4, 125w rms @ 4 ohms. For my sub I’m running 10” RF P3S 4ohm dvc.

Here’s where I need a little help. Can I get away with using my existing 4awg copper power cable to split between the Polk 4000.4 and a RF p300.1, 300rms at 2ohm?

If I have to upgrade the cable size I’m thinking I will change my amp to a Polk d1000.1 and either turn the gain down low or run the sub as a 8 ohm load. This will give me room to upgrade my sub later if I want. Does this sound like it will work?

    Yeah you should be fine

the Polk has 75A worth of fuses.
The RF doesn’t have onboard fuses, but 300w amps don’t have a ton of draw.

good quality 4awg is good for 100A so you’ll be fine unless you run your system maxed out for an hour straight, which will permanently damage some hearing

    ^+1.

but i'd also seriously investigate why the amp went up in smoke. typically it's installation or settings related. the importance is to try to fix the issue so the new amp doesn't meet the same end.

Yeah definitely find the source of the problem. Those C-series amps have some decent protection features so if it literally smoked, something ain’t right.
