I disconnected My battery in my 2010 Tacoma 4.0 Manual Trans to work on something electronic in my dash ( I actually never got around to touching it i decided to do it the next day) I put the battery back on and fired up the truck and it died after two seconds, tried to fire it up again, and it started idling at 400 rpm it would rev just fine but with a heavy delay from 400, It’s worth noting that the truck had been driven all over town just fine with no issues not even an hour before this, it’s also worth noting that i did put an air filter in it earlier that day, but once again ran all over town with no issues prior to dying in my garage, anyone know what this is?

Likely a dirty throttle body, start with cleaning it.

i figured it out, apparently 4.0s don’t have an idle air control valve? so everytime you disconnect the battery the truck has to relearn its own idle for about 10 minutes. trippy
