I have 5100's in the front set at the 3rd notch 1.1 otherwise stock on the front end and have a creaking coil driving me mad on the passenger side. Its 100% coming from the spring, everything is tight no rubbing anywhere that i can see. The noise is exaggerated with the prybar but i normally hear the nose when coming to a stop at the very end. Spring is seated correctly in the bottom perch. When the suspension is at droop i can see a small rust spot where the paint is missing where the springs touch together just below the strut mount. I wonder if that would be the noise? i know offroad springs have isolators on them. Excuse the 1/2 a can of fluid film to see if it would stop the noise.

Any chance the spring is broken?

It’s intact stock coils with 30k on them I had the 5100s on for about a year before the noise started

If you verified the coil is not broken. Then I’d grab a mechanic’s stethoscope. Something is moving somewhere. Have someone create the noise and see if you pin point where it’s coming from. Another idea is loosen each top mounting bolt one at time and try to recreate after each do the some on the bottom mounting bolt. Something is just barely moving somewhere.

Well i shoved a piece of 5/8 garden hose in between where the coils touch near the top mount that i circled in red, wanted to see if that was the noise and for the last 200 miles nothing quiet as a mouse. I have a new strut mount and coil spring perch from bilstein, going to swap them when i get a chance and add some heater hose to that spot. I just need to see if there is a way to clock the coil spring when installing a new mount. Its flat on top but i am sure that short bottom coil needs to be facing a certain direction.
