3 Section hard tonneau cover mod?

I have a 2005 6 ft bed Taco and am trying to get a hard folding cover that opens all the way and flips up against the cab. Bakflip makes the MX4 (and many other brands) that would fit the need. I ordered a Gator FX a month ago (10/4) but found out today they are experiencing issues with testing (a new design?) and wont have an update til 12/31/24. Seems odd as it is for a gen 2 and I would have thought it would have been an old design.

Has anybody ever modified any of the 3 section ones (of other brands) that only open 2/3 of the way to flip up against the cab, giving full access to the bed?

I don't really plan on driving like that but would like to be able to that while having mulch dumped in the bed and then folding it flat.
