Never heard them but 86db efficiency isn't really that high. Look for something closer to 90db.

This is what I've been looking for. If you make one, sign me up! Of course a custom baffle would need to be worked.....somehow. I've worked with fiberglass a little in the past, but that was on my homemade kayak. Is that what you're thinking? Picking your brain a little here.

I would love to have a pair of 8's in my rear doors. Wish I had a double Cab now.

I had 2 10's in my old Jimmy (still have them) and that was too much, it was a little bro-ish. Wouldn't mind doing a DIY driver, but don't know much about them.

I was actually thinking more like the front doors. The baffle wouldn't be complicated and I could find a tweeter to fit relatively well.

I'll do some homework and make a separate thread.

I'd say go for it at that price.

With b-stock or scratch and dent it's usually just one or two of each item. Sometimes they're returns.

Yeah, just suprised as I went back to look at the page for them and notta. Still a good deal.

I installed my Subx box last night with a JL 10w3v3-2 and a Boston Acustics GTA 400watt RMS x 2ohm amp last night. Sounds amazing, just need the mids and highs to be a litle louder. :)

The increased efficiency should help a bunch with that!

Just noticed this on the spec page:
Input/Output Connections: The passive crossover features eight gold-plated terminal-strip speaker connections. The terminal strip will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.273" wide. There are three tweeter connections for different output levels, flat, -2dB, and -4dB to suit system requirements or personal preference.

I like soft dome tweets, but... Where do you plan on mounting the crossovers? If you plan on mounting them in the door (not a fan...) then make sure you do some listening before you button everything up, or at least be ready to get back in there. The tweeter adjustment may be your favorite thing about these - Personally, I would start on the -2db setting.

I have found most components have a tweeter much more sensitive than the woofer, and I have pansy ears that dont like too harsh a tweet.

I have also found that, when using passive components, that a tweeter that is better matched to the mid, and then actually using the high frequency EQ in most decks is a great combo for a little bit of tuning. I generally turn it up a hair, to make up for the off axis response that tweeters have, helping bring back a little bit of the sound.

YMMV, of course, but dont be afraid to experiment.

Interesting, maybe I will have to have the audio shop tune my system for me. They only charge $10 for a full system tune.

Skip it. When they "tune" a system, all they do is set the gains, and maybe some EQ adjust. Nothing you cannot do your self. Think of it this way - the only adjustments available are:
Amp - gains, and crossovers (if being used)
Speakers - crossover settings (and you are the one that has to live with em, so they might as well be what you like!)
Head unit - crossovers (if being used) and EQ settings.

Nothing there that you cannot handle, and knowing what you do will help you get what you want.

Besides, you will want to "live with" whatever you install for a while, then see what you are not happy with, and then try to fix it. For example, get it all installed, and listen to music, talk radio, favorite CD's. You may find that on the radio it sounds fine, but with your CD's you want the tweeters a little brighter, or less bright. Then you can make the adjustments.

    Mattg43:
I mounted my crossovers up high in the foot wells under the dash. Took some finagling and some Ty raps but they installed pretty easily.

I do not take my Tacoma off roading so I felt it was OK to mount them with Ty raps.

The big issue with doors is not so much the ease of access (but it does suck to pull your door panels evertime, and those clips can break) but rather the amount of water that runs through them. Most people put them behind the vapor barrier, or cut the barrier, and it exposes them to a lot of moisture.

Under the dash seems like a great idea.

I actually prefer zip ties (think thats what you mean by ty wraps) for a lot of things, as they are easy to remove. Sounds like a good choice overall.

Yup Zip Ties or Ty Wraps, both the same.

If you did a lot of off roading I doubt if I would zip tie it. I would perfer a more secure mounting solution.

If I attach them inside the doors and seal them in a ziplock baggy is that adequate?

Got the components in today. They are brand new! Box had been opened prior but everything in the box is still sealed with a note tapped to it that says, "new returned/ discontinued open box"!!! :)
