I have a 2003 toyota tacoma pre runner with 2.7 liter engine. I was checking fuses and bumped 140 alternator fuse, and it just disintegrated due to its age. The vehicle still starts, but the plastic housing is falling apart. I need to know how to change it. I initially thought I could just pull it out, which disintegrated more. I have since read you have to take the fuse box apart, then bolt it to be able to remove the fuse. Anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to do this?Cause I honestly have no clue.

You have to disassemble the fuse block housing. The top seperates from the bottom and when you do this you will see that the fuse is held in place with a 6mm threaded 8mm headed bolt. Disconnect your battery first. Some people say that they cand get the fuse at an suto parts store, I have always gotten mine from the dealer and as you have discovered, you are dead in the water with out one of these. If it was me I would get one of each of these bolt in fuses just in case.
