I have a 2003 toyota tacoma pre runner, what the 2.7 liter engin. I've never had any trouble out of it, but yesterday the alternator went out due to a reading of no output. I have changed out the alternator for a new one and I was getting a charge, but today it's reading no output again. I tested my battery and my battery is reading good and no short. The battery has an internal resistance of 6.1 ohms, which they say is normal. Do I just have a case of a bad new alternator or is there something else going on? What all should I check?

High possibility of bad replacement part. Most auto parts shops have an alternator tester so if you bought it locally take it back and have it tested.

Sometimes you just lose the draw and get bad parts. I’ve had good luck with a denso reman.

That appears to be the case. I got another and it worked fine. Hopefully it will keep working.

I don't know, but I chose to change out the brushes only, because I've learned that keeping everything as much OEM as possible is the way to go.

It was likely a bad part.
But alternators have to be turned on and off. (ignition switch)
If this one fails to charge, we can test the wiring to the alternator.
