I would love to see groupings of all the batteries and see which ones were manufactured on the same line. That would be an eye opener.

 

Went out to the shop after supper and figured I’d get the leaky cylinder off and rebuild it another day.

Take the bolt out and then you knock the tapered piece out it hinges on from the other side.





Got it on the bench.




Figured while I was greasy I may as well take it apart.






Found the leaky culprit. Inside pressure seal was split.




Figured while I had it apart and was already dirty I may as well rebuild it.




Then, why not go ahead and put it back on since I was already dirty.





Took me right at an hour from start to finish, and done it in crocs and didn’t get juice all over me.




May do the other one when I get home before small group tonight.

Friend of mine bought a Trac-Vac with a Briggs on it a couple weeks ago, he came by and said the engine quit. He had a guy look at it and the timing gear is broke, it's plastic and it's no longer available.

It's a 2015 engine. I said I don't believe it so I got the numbers off the valve cover and sure enough.....can not find one anywhere. Briggs & Stratton # 593499 says "no longer available".

 

I see a harbor freight visit in the near future.

 

I was thinking the same thing. The only problem is, the crankshaft is straight on the end and has a taper about an inch back for the impeller to lock on

 

I don't know anything about the "character" in this video, but the problem seems to be the same as yours. He claims that Briggs & Stratton is paying for new crankshaft with metal gear under warranty. The video is long and I didn't watch the whole thing. YMMV...

Is it the same cranks that they use for generators? I come across those engines all the time on FBMP for cheap. I've always wanted to figure out an adapter to a straight shaft.

 

Honda does the same crap. The lobes are plastic on some of the camshafts. (GC series)

 

Morning y'all. The pressure washing genius is still stupid.
Yesterday he decided to use a piece of PVC as a support for the joint on the wand✓ pretty good idea to eliminate the oring.
Then he said I'll make a 20 ft wand for the 20 ft pipe screwing the fittings to it. But alass there was no support, worked ok with someone holding it in the middle.
I'd have to check the pipe PSI to see if it would hold .
