Protection from what? From dirt and grime?

Cause if you meant rock rash, not much is gonna protect that.

You can ceramic coat wheels like any other painted surface. Whether or not you think that’s financially worth it on something that’s meant to be beaten up, especially on a truck, is up to you.

They are pretty resilient. Just keep them clean.

I havent seen any issues with Toyota wheels since the 2nd gen sport tacoma.

You can wax them to protect from fading in the sun, but thats a pain and I like to wash my wheels thoroughly.

You guys are misreading, he's referring to the Tacoma "Offroad"model rims.

    Not "wheeling"

If you get enough rock rash, they'll come up nice and polished.

OEM rims are among the #1 replaced items. I just peeked at OfferUp out of curiosity, and people are selling brand new take-off TRD rim sets for $450-550 obo without tires, $800-1000 obo with tires.

I.e., don't overthink protecting something you can replace cheap

This inexpensive Turtle Wax "ceramic" product has really impressed me and especially the price. I found the same saturated cloth used for the paint then applied to all the black plastic such as grille and clean wheels works well.

That might not satisfy the person who's pretty nuts about detailing but my suggestion for the stuff came from care care enthusiasts who tried it against more expensive stuff.

Beyond overall good, easy and fast, I noticed rain and simple car wash has the TRD OR wheels looking better. I also like the stuff as a white paint vehicle owner - no wax spots or streaks watch for.

I'm not an obsessive detailer but periodic efforts to clean and protect have made a difference as vehicles age and make cleaning easier. Also, your NC location might not require defense for salted roads in winter.

To clean and “protect” the matte wheels on my rig, I use Dr Beasley’s. I don’t think it will actually prevent scratching, but it does clean up the wheels real nice.
