I would like to add the Drl feature to my 2010 Tacoma double cab. The sight I was going to order the required relay and jumper from has the following note: "2005 - 2012 Tacoma (Not Applicable for Tacoma's that came with Factory Tow Package or Factory Daytime Running Light System)". Does this mean I can't add Drl's because I have a factory trailer hitch or am I not interpreting the meaning correctly?

Find out what type hazard/turn relay your Taco has. Quick pic with smartphone of rear of cabin fuse box will do.

    Sorry it took so long.
There is a pic of the back of fuse panel and a pic of a cable that I did not see where to plug in.
The other end of the cable appears to go to the back of the fuse panel. It's a very long cable and i don't remember unplugging it.
All the electronics seem to work fine. I think there's a chance it wasn't connected to anything. Do you know what this cable is for?

This picture shows where the DRL harness goes.

You'd be removing the Gray Relay and the light blue junction block.

The DRL relay has a slot that mates to the side of the BECU (Box).

Is there any particular reason why the towing package trucks didn't get DRL? I already have the parts to add it, but am just curious..

Thanks for the info. I'm sorry but I'm a little confused

What do you mean by I'm missing the tow relay and harness. If I have a factory trailer hitch why am I missing the tow relay?

Is attachment 5876503 the smaller pic of the harness. I can't open the link that was in the email. I'm still not sure where my found cable goes.

    Sorry for my confusion,

OP, you're mixing 2 questions. The one here only pertains to the DRL function. Missing relay and harness that "controls" DRL.
In your other post about found connector, the relay that handles towing circuit wires uses a different harness than the one shown here. Also a different relay.

P.S. Check if you indeed have the OEM towing and not an aftermarket towing 4 pin.

I do have OEM factory hitch 7 pin. The place where I was ordering the DRL parts ask for my vin number and now they're telling me this modification won't work on my vehicle because of factory hitch.
Does anyone know if this is really true?

Or you can just do what I did for my 2005. I swapped out the turn signal bulbs with LED switchback bulbs, changed the bulb plug for a three wire one and wired the wire for the white portion of the switchbacks to an ignition source and hooked the stock turn wire up to the wire for the amber portion and ground to ground, done. Now I have white ;ight whenever the truck is running and amber when I'm using the turn signal or hazards.

I have an '11 with tow package so no DRL. Rather than go through all the trouble with rewiring, I simply leave the headlights in the "on" position at all times. The lights turn themselves off when the truck is shut down, so no issues there. I probably have to change out the bulb more often than installing a DRL hookup, but really, who cares.

Having the 7 pin tow connector doesn't make it OEM. It's the wires to it. If your Taco has an aftermarket tap to the taillights and the required converter, this converter provides the necessary "wires" to the towing connector turn & stop. The Taco would be missing a tap to reverse & tail circuit.

As for the cab relay, you have shown that the Taco has the basic Hazards/Turn relay only. For your year Taco there are 3 relay choices, but only 2 that add DRL feature. One I have shown, the other ones are towing and DRL and the last only Towing, no DRL.

I still have the factory window pricing sticker and the factory towing option is listed as V6 Tow Package Class 4 hitch, transmission and supplemental oil coolers, 130 amp alternator, heavy duty battery, 7 pin connector $650.
I guess I have a towing no DLR. Do you possibly know the part number for the relay that is towing and drl?

The picture of the Hazard/Turn your Taco has says otherwise.
This what you should have and the one that needs to be in order to have Towing & DRL.

    Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately I tried several parts suppliers and they all say this will not fit a 2010. It's for 2012 thru 2016.

Is there possibly a different part number for 2nd generation.

Thanks again for all your help.

Remember to release the parking brake for the DRL to turn ON after engine is on...

If one wanted to go the arguably unnecessary extra mile and add the "DRL Off" function, do you know if you just need to swap the stalk out for one with that position?

    Not on a 2nd Gen.
Just add a on/off switch to green with red stripe wire.

Not the answer I hoped for, but, the one I needed - thanks once again for sharing your seemingly encyclopedia grade Tacoma electrical knowledge!
