Bad Differentials?

    I was just about to say this. When gear oil mixes with water it looks like coffee. If you off-road and do water crossing definitely put a diff breather on. ARB makes a good kit for under $100 and can be installed in 15 minutes

    I wasn't commenting on the OPs find. I was commenting on my own experience in post #14. The degree of black in that oil was on the side of BLACK, BLACK, BLACK... it scared me. The black was like if someone dragged a magnet through sand and gets all the not so fine iron on the magnet. I did the same with a magnet in the drained container of oil and it looked just like it had been dragged through sand.

    I don’t lose sleep over the color of my oil. I do enjoy the fact that I only need to change it every 10k in these modern days. Channing oil is a bit of a PITA and non-rewarding task.
