What brand is the speed control in mention here?
I'm currently in the hunt for a vfd or something similar for my lathe

It’s a KB electronics unit. Bought it from state motor and control. Very helpful folks, helped me size the unit, etc. Super nice basic unit, easy to set up. If you have a 3 phase motor this is way better a phase converter than those little junk things that only power one leg. Plus variable speed. I wish I’d gotten one years ago!

Yea right now a Teco vfd is at the top of the list. Electronics is probably one of the things i'm least knowledgeable about, so the more simple the setup, the better. The cabinet and drive assembly i have came with one of those big Furnas magnetic starters so i could just run a phase converter to that but it seems kinda clunky and inefficient compared to more modern options

Spent a few hours making a revolver frame wrench.

They dont make the insert for the revolver I have so I figured if I'm going to have to make that piece I might as well make the rest of it.

    3d printed the insert.

That's very true. It's also why I probably spend more money on the truck than I should. Since I'm already doing this I might as well...

The knurling was also a might as well moment....

Adding a little knurl is never a bad idea.

I need to get back in the shop! I have a pile of overdue maintenance tasks waiting for me tho so my stoke is low. Starting with cleaning out the oil skimmer. Yuck.

Toured the matsuura factory in japan a couple weeks ago.

Unreal to see how they're made and the dedication to a quality product

I toured Mazak last year in Kentucky. Pretty crazy to see some of their ghetto setups to make machine parts lol. Makes sense as to why the integrex we bought was garbage.

I work as a technical sales engineer for a cutting tool supplier, you’d be surprised at how many big name manufacturers have some janky ass set ups lol.

Yeah it was pretty cool to hear the owner say “we want to build a machine that you will run for 30 years.”

I know in our shop the only time we’ve scrapped a matsuura was because the control died or had no more support (yaznac)

but they all lasted 20+ years running hard every day
