I recently picked up a 3rd gen with an Icon stage 10 kit and am looking at wheel and tire options. My old 2nd gen had 17X9 -12 wheels with 285/75R17s MT/Rs on it. I had to do a CMC and some moderate inner fender trimming to get the rubbing under control but it would still rub with the suspension compressed. I was wondering if the 3rd gen needed the same mods with a slightly narrower tire.

I don't plan to do any hardcore offroading and will be running a less aggressive tire (R/T Trail) so if the rubbing is a slight problem with the suspension collapsed and the wheel fully stuffed I can live with that. If it's a major problem I'll probably look to a 17x8.5 0 wheel.

I've seen a few threads and some people say cutting and modding is a must and others say they have no issues. I have the adjustable upper arms so I can add caster up to a point.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Just going to an 8 inch wheel with -10 helps with a 285 or the 0 offset like you mentioned. going 9 inch -12 seems like it puts the tire that little bit more out of the wheel well.
