I haven’t changed my oil yet. But while I was under the truck changing my skid plate, I did take a pic of the oil filter that came from the factory. Here it is.

Here are my quick installation tips…

First, make sure the dealership gives you a printed copy of the instructions. Mine didn’t, but thanks to @Poot Klopp for posting a clean version that I was able to follow!

Step 2-B: Instead of aligning with the front of the bulkhead (as the instructions say), I found it easier to line up with the back end of the bed.

Step 4-L: The instructions say to fold up the tonneau cover to tighten the elevator bolts after aligning, but I suggest doing it differently. Leave the tailgate open so you can see the latch alignment and carefully align the left/right position. Once that’s set, close the tailgate to adjust front/back alignment according to the diagram in 4-H.

Final Tightening: Once everything is perfectly aligned, open the tailgate carefully, crawl inside, and tighten the bolts in place.

Step Sequence Tip: Do Step 4-O at the same time as 4-J, then add the clips from 4-M after these steps.

YZZN1 is the correct OEM replacement Tacoma filter. YZZF1 is the Tundra filter I think.

The factory installed filter is different then what you will find at the dealers. It is around $4.50 for a YZZN1.

Ordered an overpriced LEER cap Saturday, upTOP Overland bed stiffeners in preparation for it. No drilling required for these.

fyi, those stiffners use the same holes on top as the Extang Solid Fold ALX tonneau cover.

I would have went for those had I known they existed. My biggest fear of removing the tail lights and drilling 4 holes was fumbling a brand new tail light on the driveway.

Installed the new WeatherTech mud flaps. Great fit, easy install but expensive. Finally some added protection when I need to drive gravel roads over the OEM flaps. Front tire shown, no drilling needed.

On the bed sides closest to the rear window has anyone come up with a solution to stop the side pieces from lifting at the front.

Assuming you are talking about the bed side caps? If so then more double sided tape.

You have about 5 or 10 pounds of weight you can set on top of it after you add the tape? That is what I would do to make sure it seals good.

Can confirm that. Did the same thing, about 4 miles past empty. 16 gallons to fill up.

I tried the vinyl on the stock wheels over the silver. It did not hold up so I continued to shop for a black wheel I liked without poke. I guess I am the oddball because everything has poke so I bought and had installed today the TRD Toyota OE wheels. These are perfect for what I wanted.

Ordered from Toyota Direct - Free Shipping $762.18 delivered to my door.

    Wheel part # - PTR56-35242-F1

    Center Cap part # - PT998-34221-2F

I took mine back into the place that installed my bed cover. They put a wedge on the bedside of the caps. Fixed it.
