So my 2010 toy tacoma 4x4 is used to pull my 30 ft trailer to the beach on the lake. Sand can get a little deep. I'm thinking of putting a winch on front so I can help the truck get unstuck. What size winch Do I need?
Stock V6 motor stock tires 6800 lbs travel trailer bumper pull. Suggestions please.

General rule of thumb is vehicle gross weight multiplied by 1.5.

I have been very happy with my HF Badlands 12k winch. Affordable and reliable.

So..... truck gvwr x 1.5........ so what about my 7000 lbs trailer. Do I add that weight to truck gvwr and times 1.5??
    12000 x 1.5 is 18000
Is that overkill? My thought is ok got truck and trailer stuck on the beach. I'd unspool the winch line and use a boat anchor digging in the sand and pull truck and trailer together to harder ground?????

How soft is the sand you are getting into?
Deflate all the tires to like 15psi. You need all the flotation in deep soft sand.
10,000lbs or greater winch will be sufficient.

This might be a stupid question,

How many axles does your trailer have?
Not that it matters too much but ground pressure is a thing if on only 2 vs 4 trailer wheels.

In the desert if a buddy is real stuck an option we did if we have no sand anchor was to self burry the winch vehicle and start pulling the stuck vehicle with a snatch block. The Arabs I went with even started throwing water or even pissing onto the sand in front of the tires to help aid traction in the desert. (This was usually our last resort If all other methods fail, as this option has other problems of its own. )

But if truck and trailer is stuck and you have no friends. Get shovelling, burry your spare tire as the anchor a solid distance away and winch out with gas, don’t forget to spin the wheel hard left to right like crazy.

If you are alone I pay you never get truly stuck in that scenario. Sounds scary.

A Tacoma isn't even close to being able to handle a 30' travel trailer. That's more than most 1/2 tons will handle. If you do get that stuck in sand you don't need a winch, you need a big tow truck and expect a 4 figure towing bill.

I doubt you're going to pull a 7K# trailer in sand, if it's hardpack dirt yes but not if it's softer sand. Bring a friend with a shovel, preferably one with a bigger truck that has a winch.

How far do you pull your giant trailer? You realize you are far beyond the tow rating and every other weight rating? You need a full size truck to tow that monster trailer anywhere.
And the boat anchor in the sand idea is beyond a bad idea. When the anchor breaks loose and comes flying back toward the truck, you may want to have an ambulance standing by.
Finally with that amount of pull you will damage the front of the truck and the rear hitch assembly.
You need a whole new idea starting with a bigger truck.
