Weird sound diagnosis

    I’m hearing this weird metal dragging sound from what sounds like my driver rear wheel well. I don’t see anything obvious when I look under. Only happens at very slow speed but returns after driving faster for a while.

    The only unusual thing that might be related is that it rained hard yesterday and spend a night in the garage completely wet.

    After driving a bit I’ve noticed it’s intermittent. Sounds like maybe a brake system component sticking for a while then releasing?

    I would jack it up, pull the wheel and brake drum and inspect.

    Just for the benefit of anyone encountering this in the future, it turned out to be the shield that protects the gas tank. It was hanging down and making contact with the driveshaft. Took me a while to figure out. I was thinking wheel.

    Anyway, easy fix thankfully.
