Ahh there are some poles. I was wondering how that top stayed so square coming off the back.

Guys, sorry about the rain. Totally my fault. I went out to try out my new Softopper tent extension on the truck and as soon as I got it on it started raining. I should know better. Every time I set up a tent it rains. Every. Damn. Time.

So now it's drying in the garage before I can roll it up and put it away. For the record, it fit really nice and I think I'm gonna like it a lot. High quality fabric, reinforced seams, very sturdy poles.

How did you figure where to place the mounts? Are there dimensions that came with them? Or by mounting the shocks and figuring it out?

The new shocks were something of a compromise as they are for a Tundra. I lost something as there was to much up travel before bottoming the shock. Per Riley at Locked I added 3" of height with new mounts that the kids made. Now I need to do a full flex and make sure I don't need limit straps.

Locked shocks are BEEF! The hole on top was what a 1/4 or maybe 3/8 on the Tacoma mount. Thes things need a 7/8 inch hole and the shafts are at least 1 inch! Now that it was safe I hit some sheet on the way home. Man, they just eat bumps. A bit more of a rough ride on the piddly stuff, but a hit just goes away. Nice!

I made the mounts, placed them with a 3" extension, tacked them in place and mounted the shocks to make sure it was in the right place and such.

Whoa that is massive. a 1" rod. That will handle some serious stresses.

Has the thread gone into the gutter, or do the words pole, shaft and rod just really stand out to you when you're on the internet?

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm at the maturity level of a 17 year old. Sometimes it's nice being so easily amused.

    That's some serious modification.

Are those shackle hangers the hammers or do you still have to change them?

2nd question. If still changing them, will it affect any of the changes you already made with the upper shock mount?

Those are hammer hangers. Won't affect anything now as those changes are taken into account.

Hey fellas, I'm located in eastern IA and I'm looking for a place to Fluid Film/Woolwax my Tacoma. Any recommendations around Wisconsin?

I do it in my driveway, takes about 10 minutes if you have an air compressor

I think a group just met up at @WiscoPat place a few weeks ago.

Being easily amused is very under-rated. Frankly, I consider it a life skill. It helps keep the entertainment budget at a minimum lol.

Speaking of rods and shafts, I wanted to try something new so I changed out my automatic shifter knob. I used a pre-made ball from the craft store.

    IMG_5763.jpg

The camera makes this sort of thing look bigger in pictures than in real life. I think it’s made of hard wood, maybe walnut. It was unfinished so I had to spend a lot of time polishing it by hand. Probably more time than is considered healthy. I used lots of tung oil. It came out nice.
