2013 TRD bought 3 years ago 89000.0 miles have 109000 now don't know if the transmission has ever been serviced. What are your thoughts on this. Is it to late to service. Should I be worried that the transmission will go out after I have it serviced. Thank you for any information>

I chose manual for their general reliability over automatic.

if I had your truck I would be doing two services because one does not get all the fluid out.

I would make sure it has a cooler. And I would add a way to monitor temps.

I did a fluid drop and refill about 86k in my 2012 along with transfer case and diffs not really that dirty and running fine today at 137k. The 2012 does not have a trans dipstick. Did NOT want to do a Flush.

I have never heard of a flush being a shop, factory, or dealer procedure.

Generally a flush is not considered a good idea. They can do more harm than good.

Do whatever helps you sleep better at night.

If there is nothing wrong with the transmission, (and it most likely is just fine), then changing it at this point won't hurt anything. If you were closer to 200,000 miles, I'd say to drive it till it dies and not change it. If a transmission is compromised and in declining condition changing the fluid will just speed up its demise. And the only way to know is to tear the transmission down and look. Keeping the old fluid in there will buy you some time before it completely goes.

I simply never change mine. I've been driving 51 years and several million miles and have never had it done, there is almost 700,000 combined miles sitting in my driveway right now and all of them have the factory transmission fluid in them. 251,000 on the Tacoma. Never had a transmission issue that wasn't electrical in nature. If one of the transmissions goes bad tomorrow, I'm way ahead financially by never paying for a service in 50+ years.

Unless you let the fluid get too hot it never really goes bad. If you let it get hot enough for the fluid to go bad the transmission is probably already toast and changing it won't help. And if you do change it, they only get about 1/2 of it out. Even if you have it done twice in the same week roughly 1/4 of the factory fluid is still in there. Dirty transmission fluid is OK as long as it isn't burnt. it doesn't serve the same purpose as engine oil.
