    Hello all,

I am thinking of buying my first Tacoma. I found what appears to be a super clean one...2010 only 80k original miles, but it's almost too clean.

The first thing I thought of when I looked at the frame was that it had been repaired...because I know there was a recall on these, but I don't know what a factory frame looks like...does this look repaired?

    Thanks in advance!

It looks like a piece of flat stock was welded on across the bottom. I don’t recall mine having an edge of steel protrude out at the bottom on the outside of the frame.

Yeah that’s had some work done
    Be very suspicious

It could be fine, but if you don’t know exactly what you are looking at, run

Toyota didn't patch any frames, they replaced the entire thing with a brand new one.

Yup somebody missed the frame recall, plus what kind if rust is under the crappy asphalt coating.
    Hard pass for me.

The second picture is a dead giveaway. Notice the almost totally rusted away bracket bolted to the frame that's just been painted / undercoated over. Hard pass.

Good for you for asking before you buy. There have been a few posts after someone buys and the frame is junk. Search these threads and you will have at least a bit of knowledge about what to look for and where to look. If in doubt post some picks and ask away people will always help. The truck you posted is a no go. Good luck with your search.
