Curious what would you do in this situation. I have a 2002 with the 3.4 in it. I had the engine rebuilt for it. Well when I got it back I really dont think they actually did anything to it as my compression numbers were the exact same after putting it back in being as low as 90 psi. After alot of arguing they took the motor back and re built it again. Got it back and seemed better but still had a hard start at a certain temp that almost acted like a leaking injector. Well after replacing everything and the hard start not getting better I bore scoped my cylinders and found coolant leaking into cylinder 5 from the head gasket. At this point I was pissed and just dumped a bottle of blue devil in and it has actually helped alot. The company said I can send them the engine again. But after 2 failed times what would you do. It's a pain in the ass pulling these and at this point I don't trust the place to fix anything but I'm also over 4k into a rebuild that may as well have been money thrown into a fire. I know that head gasket in a can isn't great but it has made the engine 100x better than the rebuilds did. Would you trust them a 3rd time or just run it until it craters and get a engine from a reputable place like yota 1?

Oh yeah engine has never over heated and is still not over heating.

These 2 are after adding blue devil

Do they guarantee their work.Take the to court to get your money back. I might be cost prohibitive but something to think about.

The problem with small claims court isnt the winning of the case it is collecting the money.

What does the shop mean when they say they "rebuilt" it? Is there a list of parts replaced? did they bore and hone the cylinders or just slap new rings on old parts?

I agree with above, it would be hard to think they would suddenly do it right the third time. How did you pay? Credit card company may be able to help. If they don't refund you, letter of intent to sue would be a last resort.

For small claims court collections, some states have what's called a "Tap Till" collection method available. How it's done, if it can be done, is variable, and it'll require some research. You basically get a court order and in the LEOs that do that, you visit the company and the LEO takes cash out of the cash register or safe until the debt is paid.

This is the thing I don't trust them at all obviously. I really dont want to send it back to them. I'm tempted to just park the truck in the back yard and find a 2nd gen with 100k ish miles and start over.

If you are going to park her empty the cylinders of liquids and spray some WD40 or squirt some oil in the cylinders and keep it lubed by taking the plugs out and cranking it over once a month and repeating the process.
