No symptoms, the fluid has always been clean and clear, no drips on pavement but I’ve recently had to top off the fluid with Dexron III. I can’t afford the $1300 to replace it right now. To extend the time before I need it replaced, I’m asking for suggestions. What about drawing out as much fluid as I can from the reservoir and adding a 12 oz. bottle of Lucas Power Steering Stop leak? Would it require more than 12 oz? Suggestions appreciated. If suggested I get a flush out too, I’d have to have it done for me. A national chain would charge $70. 2003 Tacoma base, 130k.

    I wouldn't using stop leak.
    Just add fluid as needed

I've seen them "leak" for years.
They will eventually get bad enough to "need" it replaced.

If you start saving money now, you will have the money before the rack needs replaced.

I just bought an OEM rack from Ourisman Dealership for $500. Not a super tough job to DIY

Is power steering fluid ATF? Would Mobil1 Synthetic ATF work?

Check your power steering cap. Most Toyotas specify Dex III on the cap. In that case you'd want Dex III ATF
