I've been wondering how the new administration's tarrifs will affect manufacturing and pricing for future Tacomas. Will Toyota return to making them in the USA or just pass on the tarrifs to the customers.
Hopefully the cost of everything will come down once we get domestic oil production ramping up again. We will find out soon enough, I guess.

Doubt they would return to the US anytime soon and if they did they would have to build a new production line which would take years. You are more than likely to see an exemption of the tariff based of the origin of the parts. XX% of parts made in USA to qualify.

Regardless....it is always passed on to the consumer. If it wasn't then toyota would be failing their owners.

I just read an article today that Toyota is investing 1.45B into the expansion of Baja Tacoma plant and Guanajuato for Corolla's. Stating that they are not concerned with the change in presidential policy. Toyota imports about 353,000 vehicle from their Toyota manufacturing plants compared to GM's 800,000.

Maybe 'T' will work out a deal with the Mexican President to act on the immigration problem, and the drug situation in return for easing of any tariffs. This would be a 'WIN' for both countries.

Dont hold your breath about oil production...and the tariffs WILL be passed on to the consumer.

What exactly are you hoping that the oil production is going to ramp up to? We currently lead the entire world in oil production. Statements like that are a good indicator you might branch out a little more from your current preferred news source.

I suppose the economy is doing terrible also, I can tell by my 401(k) that’s gained 29% this year.

I hope they make the Tacoma cost more. I don't believe there's been nearly enough crying on the subject

Its corporate greed man (add in the logisitics of getting stuff to Hawaii or Alaska)...the President has zero to do with this, but the tariffs will impact us comsumers heavily.

Today, Groundwork Collaborative released a new report, “Inflation Revelation: How Outsized Corporate Profits Drive Rising Costs,” that finds corporations have driven more than half of the inflation we’ve seen since input costs have come down.

“Inflation is coming down, but families are still feeling the pinch at the checkout line,” said Lindsay Owens, executive director of Groundwork Collaborative. “Even as supply chain snarls have receded and the U.S. economy has stabilized, our research finds that businesses continue to pad their bottom lines at the expense of American families.”

    Among the report’s key findings:

    • From April to September 2023, corporate profits drove 53% of inflation. Comparatively, over the 40 years prior to the pandemic, profits drove just 11% of price growth.
    • While prices for consumers have risen by 3.4% over the past year, input costs for producers have risen by just 1%. For many commodities and services, producers’ prices have actually decreased. Corporations have failed to pass these savings to consumers.
    • Corporate profits as a share of national income have skyrocketed by 29% since the start of the pandemic. While our economy has returned to or surpassed its pre-pandemic levels on many indicators, workers’ share of corporate income has still not recovered.
“It’s one thing for corporations to pass reasonable increased costs to consumers. It’s another for them to line their coffers by exploiting Americans who are just trying to get by,” said Liz Pancotti, strategic advisor for Groundwork and a co-author of the report. “It’s time to rein in corporate price gouging – or families will continue to pay the price.”

I had a friend who just returned from a trip to Germany. The prices horrified her.
