Hello. I'm a second owner of 2014 Tacoma Sport with a super charged (200,000kms) installed when new at the dealer. It's still working great but it causes a lot more work when work needs to be done like replace spark plugs and altenator I recently replaced. I have all orginal parts and would like it removed. Does anyone know how many hours to switch it back? I can't get a time from two dealerships I've been talking to. Me and a mechanic I have want to know the hours so I have an idea what to pay.

Here is Magnuson's page on a 1GR supercharger, I've read that it's basically the same minus TRD branding. They don't list a specific number of hours but say that "a pro can do it in about a day, an enthusiast can in a weekend". Call it 12 hours for a mechanic if you have all the stock parts? What's your plan for it when it's out of the truck?

I had @DOUBLLD install, and then remove my SC a year later (and install it on another truck). Both times he had both trucks running in about 4 hours. He is very good at his craft. If you were to do it yourself, Id guess at least 8+ hours, depending on how mechanically inclined you are.

I also paid about $1500 usd, and pre-covid prices.

    Experience installer, about 4-6hrs
    Experienced mechanic, probably about 8-10hrs
Home driveway, no experience, about 12–16hrs

also OP, you’ve got to think about all the small parts that are ditched from the stock setup:
Idle pulley bolts, crank pulley, ECU tuning, injectors, lower radiator hose, intake manifold support brackests… etc
(Are you sure the previous owner passed them all along? Or that you’ve got all the parts 100% correct?)

if you are really only doing this because it’s a hassle to change plugs, doing this swap without any issues will be much more of a pain.
Put some iridium or ruthenium plugs in there and let it be for 100k miles…

Yes I like having the SC of course and it was onlty the pain when/if certain work needs to be done and the truck is 10 yrs old. You are right it is a big hassle to remove it anf I'm not positive if I have all the orignal parts. I really do like having it so I decided to work with it. Thanks for all the information.

    I do get it!
It makes some of the usually maintenance a bit more complicated, and even things like swapping in a new front a/c condenser was a bit more annoying.

I’d you haven’t, I’d check out the supercharger thread I linked above.
Tons of good info on maintenance, tips and tricks, & of course getting more power if you wish !
