Ok I see I plugged the wrong holes. I went back to previous posts and replies on this topic and I see I need to get underneath not the forward facing holes. Im still suspicious of the felt skid plate with what look like wings...but first I will find and plug the correct holes.

It doesn't appear the factory spoiler is on in this photo?

Yesterday afternoon I removed the Air Dam from my Sport for the winter. Took her out for a drive and she howls like a wolf, starting at around 60kph. Came home and taped the holes.I didn't drive it again, hopefully that cures it. I had the same issue with my 2020 Off Road and I find it hard to believe that this still happens with a totally redesigned truck. I find the truck now looks kinda chin-less. If the after market came out with a short dam I'd be interested in it.

The tape fixed the howling. Now I don't like the two scoops in the front of the plastic splash shield.

Plastic splash shield? Mine feels like cardboard with a strange felt covering. I wish mine was plastic! That would be an upgrade!

I am looking at the low-priced skid plates. But I might just remove that felt covering (fez??), because I really do not understand what it does...

Oh, and take a look at the silicone plugs from Amazon - they are a nice cheap fix for whenever your tape decides to fly away!

Is there a pattern that noise is just on a certain drive train like only 4wd maybe?
I took the snowplow off both of my trucks & havent heard anything abnormal on either one.
    I havent plugged any holes.
If it was my ears, the chick would have said something...

What trim levels are they? Looks like some trucks came with plugs already installed (OR, some SR5 's). Just have a peek under your LCA' s you should be able to spot them (or not).

Well im pretty certain i didnt hear the noise on my original sr5.
Never crawled under the early build sr5 to verify if it had plugs or not.
can totally hear the noise now on the sport.
something like 35-45mph, whining wind noise.
just crawled under her & zero plugs, its a sport that was just built very recently....

Going to call my writer at the dealer tomorrow & see if theres a warranty work-around to get some free plugs.
I know its self inflicted but obviously theres a part for a reason...
    Doesnt hurt to ask...

I stopped by my dealership this morning. They confirmed by VIN that my CDN Sport + should not have the plugs, but offered to order them for $53+tx. I declined. I'll live with the tape until I can find some rubber plugs.

It's hard to tell who's being more of a cheapskate - Toyota for not including them on all models, or the dealer by not providing them for free and trying to gouge you for the $53 + tax.

I haven't taken the air dam off yet, but I've noticed some howling in crosswinds. I'm wondering if it's the holes in the control arms. I might have to tape them off and see. If it is, it might be worth getting the plugs even if you're keeping your air dam on.

I havent read through all this, no idea if some sports have the plugs & some dont?
I dont have plugs on my 2wd sport & can hear the noise.
    So heres an update...
Texted my local toyota service writer last week with a picture of the lower control arms with the plugs along with the picture of the bag of plugs / part #......
Brief explanation explaining some of the trucks come with the plugs while others dont.
He mentioned he cant give me a for certain coverage response but to bring in the truck when I can so we can start the hoop jumping & see if we can get it covered.
Well today & drove it in, they checked it out while I waited, verified the noise, etc...
I have no idea if theres some sort of technical bulletin or not.
Bottom line, with zero reservation / push-back, they ordered $60 with of plugs as theyre SOP....
Sent me on my way, & will call me when parts come-in...
    thats how it's done....
No duct-tape, chewing gum, having to spend your own money, etc....

Yes, I had to take a 10 minute drive to the dealer & overdose on coffee & said no to the donuts while I waited, wasted 40 minutes of my life ill never get back....
    OUghhhh nnnnoooooooo!!!!

Just figured ide share for those who arent to proud & dont have to fix it themselves & are willing to waste a few minutes of their time.

it's not about pride - most people consider their time far more valuable than what you spent on principle. cost me $6 and 3 minutes to install these
