Tacoma Bed Sealing - Butyl / RV Putty

Can anyone recommend any brands/products to seal up the holes in tacoma bed? Overwhelmed by the options available. Is there a difference in the black vs grey tape?

Also - has anyone had success running butyl tape under the bed rail caps as opposed to tape?

 

I used right stuff by permatex under my bed caps. That’s what we use at work so we have a lot on hand.

There are at least two paths of water to get into the bed. Between the composite bed rail and the sheet metal rail and again between the sheet metal rail and the plastic rail cover. Toyota has sealed neither.

Make sure you address both paths. I have failed. I also have my inner fender liners removed which give me great exposure. Much larger tires going on where I will trim my flares.
