Hello, I have a 06 Tacoma with 91K miles. I have never changed or flush the transmission fluid. I am wondering if I should change fluid not flush. It does a little hard downshift from time to time, but it has been doing that for years. My mechanic buddy said I may want to do a gentle transmission drain and fill. I’m not sure if I should do it. Any advice from mechanics out there would be greatly appreciated thank you!

i did my 2010s a while ago with over 100,000 miles for the first time, after advice from gearcruncher, a transmission member on here. I had a transmission shop with a good reputation do it. I had the pan drained, pan/magnets cleaned, filter changed, and refilled. No flush. He said everything was normal inside and no signs of abnormal wear. I was nervous to do it too, but the shop owner told me if i wasnt having problems before doing it, he guaranteed i wouldnt after he worked on it. He said the 2nd gen tacoma automatic a750 is a very, VERY good transmission. I would do the same process if you plan on keeping your truck for the long run. Ill probably do it again in a few years

That’s exactly what my mechanic friend said that I should be fine if no previous problems! Thanks

It's always safe to do a drain and fill, it also ensures the transmission is running the correct fluid level. Do it up!
