Hello Tacoma enthusiasts!! Hope al is well. I’m looking at a 09 2.7 4x4 manual transmission. It has a new frame from the recall. The body and interior are really clean but I have some concerns with the rust on some of the components specifically the axle ends, output shaft and the calipers. Curious on what y’all think and if I should buy or run. Thank you!!

That's an awful lot of rust. Those calipers look toast.

edit: Look at the hard brake line on that caliper. I wouldn't be surprised if it were leaking where it connects to the rubber brake line. This appears to be one of those endless repair projects.

The frame swap comes with new caliper lines and they chose to ignore that lol.

It's fine as long as the price reflects the rust, most of that stuff is easily replaced like u joints and calipers, shocks etc.

That’s a lotta work. Especially the drive shaft F&R.
How does it look like in the engine bay/ steering rack.

It does look scary can’t deny that, they’re asking 15k. Which I thought would be a good deal with the new frame and all but after seeing all this I’m starting to get cold feet. Here’s the only shot I have of the engine bay. Thank you

I’d likely pass on it but to say for sure - how many miles on it and how much $$$?

Doing any work with all that rust is going to be a real pain and will increase repair time and costs. Relatively low mileage, but price is too high.

That mileage for a 15 year old truck is quite low, that’s a positive. $15,000 for that truck is too much. The main concern for me is the rust. When you have to do repairs or mods the rust is going to be a real problem and increase costs. It’s going to be expensive. Walk away from that truck.
In general I tell people if you have concerns about rust , trust those concerns and your instincts and look for another truck.

Pass at that price as it has a rear main seal leak.

That's a lot of rust that'll cause some issues in the future. As most have said, I would avoid it.

$15 K ??? The replacement frame doesn't "offset" the rest of the rusty parts. That thing looks like someone constantly submerged it in salt water. My 2 pennies says 'HARD PASS'.

I would run too. You will likely end up having to replace many other components that loose connection from corrosion or size up. Also $15K is pretty high.
